On the Appalachian Trail

Boiling Spring, PA looks like a beautiful place to live -- there's a lake in the center of town, a brook feeds and runs through it, there's stone houses and bridges, little gazebos and the Appalachian Trail runs right through here (actually I'm standing on it) it about mid-way on the trail -that runs from Georgia to Maine. There is also an AT office here right on the lake. you can see another picture of the lake here: http://visuadrenaline.blogspot.com/

Spiritual Myopia (near-sightedness)

I was rethinking yesterday's post on

http://visuadrenaline.blogspot.com/

about God's promises as a light at the end of the tunnel -- and I think that we, humans, often suffer from a kind of spiritual myopia (compare the two images of the same one-lane covered bridge) we live here -- where we see all the details of our present state and the future hope is blurry -- but if we could focus more on the end goal..the present problems would fade away...

What a draft!

The former owners abandoned it cause it was too drafty..go figure!

When Architects get cruel..

BWI Airport. I bet the guy who put this plane up has parrott's for pets, props their cage next to his apartment window and lives next to a park. You can almost see a tear on the cockpit window.

Enough!

Taken in Valetta, Malta '06. This statue evoked grief, determination and solemn reverence. I'd love to go back and retake it in softer light, now that I know a little more about photography -- I guess everyone says that.

The Traveling Bear

This bear traveled all over with World Relief. The wonderful staff at WR took this bear with them to help my daughter with her middle school project. From 11/07 through 3/08 it clocked more than 81 thousand miles and traveled to Ireland, Cambodia, Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Burundi, Egypt, Congo, Liberia, Dubai, Thailand, Indonesia and other countries too! It went to conflict zones, areas needing development and comforted AIDS patients. It finally collapsed on our couch and is seen here- at left..recovering. Many thanks to the World Relief Teams -- their dedication and commitment to the world's afflicted is amazing and evidenced by one tired bear and a very thankful 6th grader.
